7Usingbulkupload
Bulk upload is a utility that can be used for one-off a rchiving. For example, it can be used to discover the
mail files of former employees or inactive users and archive the messages in their mail files. It can also be
used to locate and archive messages in the old mail files of existing users.
When EAs Domino is first installed, you might use bulk upload quite a lot. After the initial uploads, it’s
likely you would use the process only when employees leave the organization or when you need to
perform a one-off upload to the IAP.
Running bulk upload involves five steps:

Editing the bulk upload mining rule, page 91.
2.
Editing the Preprocessing Control document,page92
3.
Enabling the agents on page 92.
4.
Discovering the databases”onpage92.
5.
Mining the da tabases on page 93.
You can also use bulk upload to find the owner of a mail database. See
Forcing a database owner on page 93.
Editing the bulk upload mining rule
The mining rule for bulk upload is similar to the mining rules created for active users. The fields in the
Mail Detail records that are created are similar to those in the HP EAs-D Users Mail Detail records.
Adefault
bulk upload mining rule has been created in the HP EAs-D A PI database.
To use the
default rule:
1. In the Domino Administrator client, o pen the HP EAs-D API database.
2. In the Mining Rules area of the EAs-D API main view, double-click Email Min er Bulk.
3. On the Us
er Membership tab, select the server(s) with the m ail databases to be d iscovered and
mined.
4. Configure the Reference Database tab:

•ClickRe gular for local mining.
•ClickExtend ed for remote mining.
•Refere
nce Database Server name:
If the reference database is not on the local server, enter the name of the ser ver on which it is
located. Otherwise, leave the field blank.
5. Do not e
dit the settings on the remaining tabs.
6. Enable and save the mining rule.
