HP 3PAR X9000 File Serving Software (IBRIX) Implementation Guide (QL226-96987, June 2013)

(PDs) or common provisioning groups (CPGs). Before exporting the virtual volume to StoreAll 9300
storage, HP 3PAR must first be registered as a vendor storage on the StoreAll 9300. This section
describes general steps and commands that are required to create the virtual volumes and then
export and discover them as physical volumes on the StoreAll 9300.
1. Register HP 3PAR as vendor storage on the StoreAll 9300. In the Navigator pane, click
Storage, click Vendor Storage, and then click Add.

After entering the details, click OK to complete addition of the vendor storage.
2. You can now create virtual volumes either from physical disks (PDs) or common provisioning
groups (CPGs); see “Creating Storage on the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage (page 22).
For example, to create a 10 GB TPVV named “ThinVol1” from the CPG “UserCPG1”, use the
following command:
# createvv tpvv UserCPG1 ThinVol1 10G
3. To create a fully-provisioned virtual volume (FPVV), use the createvv [options]
<usr_CPG> <VV_name> [.<index<] <size>[g|G|t|T] command.
For example, to create a 10 GB FPVV named “FullVol1” from the CPG “UserCPG1”, use the
following command:
# createvv UserCPG1 FullVol1 10G
