HP 3PAR X9000 File Serving Software (IBRIX) Implementation Guide (QL226-96987, June 2013)

1. Create a mounted file system on the StoreAll 9300 hosts using the LUNs that are exported to
the StoreAll 9300 from HP 3PAR. See “Mounting a File System (page 28).
2. You can now create an SMB share for the mounted file system using the following command:
# ibrix_cifs -a f FSNAME s SHARENAME -p SHAREPATH [-S SETTINGLIST] [-h HOSTLIST]
3. For example, to create an SMB share named cifs1 on file system cifs1 at the sharepath
/cifs1, issue the following command:
# ibrix_cifs a f cifs1 s cifs1 s /cifs1
4. Because the permissions for the SMB shares have not yet been set, you need to modify the
SMB permissions. Use the following command:
# ibrix_cifsperms -m -s SHARENAME -u USERNAME -t TYPE -p PERMISSION [-h HOSTLIST]
For example, issue the following command to modify the permissions of the share cifs1:
# ibrix_cifsperms -m -s cifs1 -u Everyone -t ALLOW -p FULLCONTROL
where:
USERNAME = Everyone
TYPE = ALLOW
PERMISSION = FULLCONTROL
You can now map the file system as a network drive on the Windows client. The file system on the
StoreAll 9300 is now available in the Windows environment.
For more information about these commands, see the HP StoreAll Storage CLI Reference Guide,
which is available on the following HP website:

Using High Availability
To utilize the high-availability feature, there has to be at least one pair of StoreAll 9300 servers.
Each of the StoreAll 9300 servers in the pair must be defined as backup of the other. This section
describes general steps and commands that are required to configure a pair of StoreAll 9300
servers and also to use the high-availability feature on the StoreAll OS CLI.
1. Create a mounted file system on the StoreAll 9300 hosts using the LUNs that are exported to
the StoreAll 9300 from HP 3PAR. See “Mounting a File System (page 28).
2. After creating a mounted file system, click Servers in the Navigator pane. In the Server pane,
click one of the servers in the pair listed. Then click the High Availability button. The window
shown in Figure 3 (page 45) appears.
