HP 3PAR Management Plug-In and Recovery Manager 2.5.0 for VMware vSphere Release Notes

This document provides release notes for RMV (HP 3PAR Management Plug-in and Recovery Manager
2.5.0 Software for VMware vSphere). This document also provides a list of known issues that might
be visible to the user. Read the entire document before installing the product.
What’s new in this release
Support for VMware vSphere Web Client—The RMV Plug-in supports VMware vSphere Web
Client.
Integrate with HP Insight Control for VMware vCenter Server—RMV is now part of HP Insight
Control for VMware vCenter Server package.
Enhancements
Supports Remote Copy snapshots (on local StoreServs) to be mounted and attached to an existing
virtual machine.
Supports zero detect” on LUN Provisioning for vSphere Client plug-in.
Enforces certificate validation and acceptance by the host and client applications to establish a
secure connection with HP 3PAR StoreServs.
Supports additional tuning such as setting timeout value that can be done through the following
config files:
RMVMware.exe.config
TpdVmAdmin.exe.config
TpdVmWebServiceHost.exe.config
Changes
The HP 3PAR Host Explorer component is removed from RMV.
You cannot modify the port numbers nor the certificate binding using Admin Tool. The default
RMV and VASA ports have changed.
You can customize the port numbers only during the Custom Installation of the RMV module using
HP Insight Control for VMware vCenter.
The certificate used is centralized and is provided by HP Insight Control for VMware vCenter
package.
You can install RMV only through HP Insight Control for VMware vCenter installation. There will
not be an RMV entry in system’s Programs and Features list.
VASA component is available only if you select the Storage module during HP Insight Control for
VMware vCenter installation.
The term “Transparent Failover is changed to “Peer Persistence.
Allows Recovery Set creation for more than eight VMs for application consistent Local and Remote
Copies. However, if you select more than 8 VMs a warning message is displayed and the Recovery
Set creation for application consistency might fail due to the time required to quiesce the VMs.
