11. Select the installation type as online or offline.
CAUTION: For offline upgrade, all hosts must be shut down before continuing with the
upgrade.
NOTE: An online upgrade is equivalent to a simple upgrade.
An online upgrade option might not be available if a particular upgrade must be performed
as an offline upgrade.
12. Select the file corresponding to version 3.1.2.592, and then click Continue.
13. To continue with the upgrade, click Install.
NOTE: The installation process may take up to 20 minutes per controller node.
TIP: You can close installation details page. To open the installation details page again,
click Show Update Status on the Update HP 3PAR OS page.
14. After the installation is complete, the following message appears:
Update Succeeded
15. To return to the SPOCC main page, click the Home tab.
16. To verify the health status of the system, Select the SPMAINT tab, select 4 InServ Product
Maintenance, and then select Health Check.
17. If you are upgrading from HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2 MU2 or 3.1.2 EMU2 to HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2
MU5, complete the defrag check before continuing to next step.
NOTE: The defrag check cannot be executed from SPOCC, close the SPOCC and start
SPMaint.
To complete the defrag check:
i. From the SPMaint menu, enter: =4.7.7 and then press Enter.
ii. Select the StoreServ system and the defrag check starts. After the defrag is completed,
the following message appears:
Defrag Check is Successful.
18. To verify the storage system configuration, click the SPmaint tab.
19. Click 3 InServ Configuration Management.
20. To remove the system click Remove, and then click OK.
CAUTION: If you want to retain the notification records, click Cancel.
21. Click Add New InServ.
22. Enter the IP address of the storage system and log in with the super user account and password,
then click Add IP Address to add the storage system.
23. To return to the SPOCC main page, click the Home tab.
24. Click the SPmaint tab.
25. Select 7 Execute a CLI command.
26. To view the SparingAlgorithm settings of the storage system, enter: showsys param.
If the SparingAlgorithm parameter of the showsys CLI command is set to Unknown,
define the parameter the storage system will use for future hardware upgrades.
27. To define the parameter, execute the command setsys SparingAlgorithm <value>
where <value> can be Default, Minimal, Maximal, or Custom. If the parameter is already
defined, skip this step.
