HP 3PAR InForm OS 2.2.4 Extended MU7 Release Notes (QL226-96615, September 2012)

Introduction
This document provides the release notes for the HP 3PAR InForm OS (Operating System).
You must read this document prior to installing the 2.2.4 Extended Maintenance Update 7 (EMU7)
version of this product.
NOTE: These release notes describe the features and issues resolved in InForm OS 2.2.4 Extended
MU7. Refer to the appropriate release notes for all prior releases.
An Extended Maintenance Update (Extended MU or EMU) is a binary combination of a Maintenance
Update (MU) and one or more patches, so that the patches are preloaded in the complete InForm OS
software image.
The patch (Patch 16) associated with, and incorporated into, this Extended MU allows transparent
substitution of newer 300 GB, 450 GB and 1 TB drives for certain equivalent drives which are no
longer available. This Extended MU (2.2.4 Extended MU7) also allows systems running 2.2.4 (MU4,
MU6 with P14 installed, or MU7 with P14 installed) to upgrade to EMU7 without needing to sequentially
install Patch 16. This avoids the possibility of loss of access to the newer drives if they exist in the
system configuration during the software upgrade.
All InForm OS 2.2.4 systems are eligible for upgrade to 2.2.4 Extended MU7.
NOTE: At the time of this Extended MU release, all the replacement drive types are not available
as Field Replaceable Units (FRUs) in all the stocking locations. This is being addressed by HP
aggressively. However, installing the Extended MU before drive failure will help prevent customer
down time should a drive failure occur in the future.
