iSCSI ports use the following firmware mode settings:
Target mode is for ports that connect to hosts and receive commands from those hosts.
Gigabit Ethernet ports use the following firmware mode setting:
Peer mode is for Ethernet ports, used for Remote Copy over IP (RCIP).
You can use either the InForm CLI or the InForm Management Console to view current mode
settings, but changing these settings requires that you use the InForm CLI
controlport
command. Refer to the InForm OS Command Line Interface Reference for instructions.
From the storage system’s point of view, a set of initiator port WWNs or iSCSI Names comprises
a host. These WWNs or iSCSI Names need not be associated with target ports on the controller
nodes.
6.5 Exporting Volumes
A virtual volume can be exported (made accessible) to one or more hosts. The host sees the
exported volume as a LUN connected to one or more ports. Once the virtual volume is
exported to a host, the host can send requests to the LUN.
CAUTION: Ports in the same Fibre Channel adapter should be set to the same
mode.
For dual-port LSI cards, both ports must use the same mode.
For quad-port LSI cards, each port pair (ports 1&2 and 3&4) must use the same
mode.
For QLogic cards, it is strongly recommended that all ports in a card be set to the
same mode.
NOTE: See The Port Persona on page 6.5 and The Port Parameters on page 6.8 for
additional information about port parameters and the
controlport command.
NOTE: Refer to Chapter 9, Virtual Volumes Exports, for more information on
LUNs, VLUNs, and exporting virtual volumes.
