6.6 Port Location Formats
The InForm user interfaces can express controller node Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and Gigabit
Ethernet adapter port locations in the following formats:
0:0:0 (default) - as expressed in the InForm CLI and Management Console
(<Node>:<Slot>:<Port>)
Node: (0,1,2,3,4,5,6 or 7) depends on the number of nodes and the storage server model.
Slot: (0-5 for each node) numbered consecutively from left to right.
Port: (1-4, depending on the type of adapter) numbered consecutively from top to bottom.
n0s0p0 - as expressed in the InForm Management Console
(n<Node>s<Slot>p<Port>)
Node: (0,1,2,3,4,5,6 or 7) depends on the number of nodes and the storage server model.
Slot: (0-5 for each node) numbered consecutively from left to right.
Port: (1-4, depending on the type of adapter) numbered consecutively from top to bottom.
6.7 The Port Persona
The port’s persona number represents a profile of the host computer to which the target port
is attached and contains the following attributes:
The vendor and model of its Fibre Channel adapter.
Its operating system.
A Level setting, which is reserved for future use.
Most host computers directly connected to the storage system work with the storage system’s
generic settings and are compatible with a target port persona setting of 7.
For host computers that do not work with the system’s generic settings, it is necessary to
change the target port persona setting with the
controlport persona command. If your
host computer and its Fibre Channel adapter match any profiles in the following table, the
appropriate persona number as indicated in Table 6-1 on page 6.7 should be used. Refer to the
InForm OS CLI Administrator’s Manual or the InForm OS Management Console Online Help for
instructions on setting port personas.
