2.4 What’s New in the InForm OS
New features included in the 3PAR InForm OS Release 2.3.1 MU2 are described below.
2.4.1 Support for Advanced Storage Integration in VMware vSphere 4.1
Working in conjunction with 3PAR plug-in for VMware vStorage API for Array Integration
(VAAI), 2.3.1 MU2 adds support for the following advanced storage operations in VMware
vSphere 4.1:
Hardware Assisted Locking (ATS) - Hardware Assisted Locking reduces SCSI reservation
contention that can impact performance in large environments. Reducing conflicting
resource requests removes a barrier to virtual machine (VM) performance to enable greater
VM density and scalability.
Full Copy - Full Copy increases agility by halving the amount of time required to perform
common copy operations like virtual machine cloning and storage workload migrations
using VMware Storage vMotion. This is made possible by allowing the storage hardware to
transparently manage large data movements, and by minimizing host, network, and disk I/
O activity. With the integration of the 3PAR Gen3 ASIC and 3PAR Thin Persistence software,
built-in zero-detection capabilities further speed cloning and storage workload migrations
while also delivering a capacity savings benefit.
2.5 Modifications to the InForm OS
The following items have been addressed in this release.
Bug ID Item Description
46647 showvlun -host xx shows
unrelated set exports.
VLUN templates of exports to host sets
that didn't contain the specified host
would show up with
showvlun -
host xx
.
This has been corrected so only
templates involving host sets that
contain the host are shown.
