1 Overview of HP 3PAR OS
This release notes document describes the modifications and known issues for Patch 29. The
application of this patch is intended for HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.484 (MU3) with Patch 16 (P16) or
later. Only an authorized HP Service Provider should perform this maintenance procedure.
NOTE: Patch 16 (P16) requires significant preparation and upgrading of all the related HP 3PAR
components and host applications. For more information, see HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2 MU3 Patch 16

Verifying the patch installation
The installation of Patch 29 can be verified from an interactive CLI session. Issue the CLI command
showversion -a -b to verify that Patch 29 is listed.

Modifications to the HP 3PAR OS
The purpose of this firmware patch is to enhance the disk capacity of HP 3PAR StoreServ 7200
Storage array by increasing the maximum spindle count and the maximum raw capacity. This is
achieved by extending the maximum daisy chain limit to five thus allowing HP 3PAR StoreServ
7200 Storage array to support up to 240 drives. The maximum raw capacity of the array is
increased to 400 TB.
