Interoperability
Direct Attach Cable Support
With HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3, HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 and 10000 Storage supports connectivity
through Direct Attach copper cables. The networking infrastructure that is qualified to work for
direct attach to HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage include HP ProCurve and HP 3COM Direct Attach
copper cables and switches.
NOTE: At present, direct attach cables can be used only for iSCSI.
Expanded Virtual Service Processor support
Beginning with HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3, the HP 3PAR virtual Service Processor can be installed on a
customer-provided VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V system. The virtual Service Processor v4.2 is
supported on Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2, Hyper-V Server 2012, ESXi 4.x, ESXi 5.1, or
ESXi 5.5 operating systems. For more details, see HP Storage Single Point of Connectivity Knowledge

Host Operating System Support
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 supports following host Operating Systems:
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2
Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2
VMware vSphere 5.5
With HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3, support for FCoE target interface on HP 3PAR StoreServ arrays is
enhanced to include support for following host Operating Systems for HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000
and 10000 Storage platforms:
Microsoft Windows Server 2012
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2
VMware vSphere 5.5
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 supports Host Persona 6 and 11 for VMware vSphere host Operating Systems.
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 is the last major HP 3PAR OS release to support Host Persona 6. Subsequent
HP 3PAR OS versions will exclusively use Host Persona 11 for all supported ESX versions.
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 supports Host Persona 13 for HP-UX 11iv3 that includes ALUA support and
SES LUN support. Host Persona 13 and 7 are supported for HP-UX 11iv3.
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 supports Host Persona 15 for Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2, and
Windows 2012. Host with these operating systems must be converted to Host Persona 15 from
Host Persona 2 after the array is upgraded to HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3. This can be completed with
the host online and active.

Enhanced Thermal Shutdown
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 release is enhanced to shut down an entire system or a single node when
operating thermal limits are reached.
System Shutdown
The system is shutdown when TOC quorum loss is pending for having to spin down too many
drives for over-temperature conditions. The system shutdown includes spin down of all the drives
and shutdown of the nodes. The nodes, drives, and drive enclosures are not powered off as a part
