HP 3PAR Policy Server 6-13
Un-installing HP 3PAR Policy Server
1. If you need to un-install HP 3PAR Policy Server and its components are all running as services
(daemons), the first step is to stop the services in the following order:
a. HP 3PAR Policy Server
b. HP 3PAR Policy Server Database
c. OpenDS
2. Navigate to the Uninstall subdirectory of your Policy Server installation. For example, C:\Program
Files (x86)\HP 3PAR\PolicyServer\Uninstall.
3. Run the un-install program, Uninstall_HP3PARPolicyServer, and select the desired components to
remove.
4. When the un-install program finishes, it prompts whether to restart the machine. Whether you let the
program restart the machine or you do it later, you must restart the machine to ensure all the changes
take effect.
5. After the machine has restarted, check the installation directory. The un-installer cannot remove files
that are new or changed since the version in the installation package. For example, you'll find lock
files that OpenDS sets up when it runs.
6. Delete the PolicyServer installation directory to complete the removal of Policy Server and its
components.
If you want to re-install, run the installer, HP3PARPolicyServer. As needed, refer to the procedure
appropriate to your needs in Chapter 5, Express Installation, or Chapter 6, Custom Installation, of the HP
3PAR Policy Server Installation and Migration Guide.
Notes:
To run the un-installer in silent mode, refer to Appendix C, "Silent Mode Installation and Un-
installation."
If you have Agent gateway or Policy Agents that are communicating with Policy Server, users at the
assets may see error messages that the Agents cannot communicate with Policy Server when you
perform the un-installation. You may want to notify the users at the assets of your plans to un-install
Policy Server.
