4 Configuring Backup Software
Overview
You can use HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Software for Microsoft Exchange with either Symantec
NetBackup, HP Data Protector, or Symantec Backup Exec to backup and restore the virtual copies
created by Recovery Manager.
Before you start configuring the backup software, check the following:
• If you are using backup software in the backup environment, you must install a backup master
or client on the backup server.
• If you are using Database Availability Group (DAG) configurations that span multiple sites
(and multiple HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage Systems), you must also set up multiple master servers
for your backup software.
• If you are using a multiple-domain configuration, you must use domain specific Symantec
NetBackup, Symantec Backup Exec, or HP Data Protector software.

Recovery Manager for Exchange and backup applications such as HP Data Protector, Symantec
NetBackup, or Symantec Backup Exec.
