7 HP 3PAR OS Update Task Overview

The HP 3PAR OS update process includes the following phases:

Pre-Update Tasks:

• “Verifying the HP 3PAR OS Software Level” (page 18)

• “Verifying the Health of the Storage System” (page 18)

• “Performing Validation Routines” (page 19)

Update Tasks:

• “Updating the HP 3PAR OS Online” (page 21)

• “Updating the HP 3PAR OS Offline” (page 24)

Post-Update Tasks:

• “Verifying the Storage System Configuration” (page 27)

• “Updating Back-end Components” (page 27)

NOTE: Connections between CLI clients and the system might terminate during the update process.

To maintain a CLI connection with the system during the update process, you must start an interactive

CLI session with the SPMAINT utility.

NOTE: For systems currently running 3.1.1 MU1 or later, the node reboot order can be displayed

by using the following CLI command:

upgradesys -status.
