Installing a Power Supply

■ Make sure the air flow around the sides and back of the switch is not

restricted. Do not cover the power supply inlet or exhaust vent.

■ Make sure that for any switch power supply slot into which a power

supply is not installed, the blank cover plate is installed to cover the

slot. A blank cover is required for safe operation, and to ensure proper

switch cooling.

■ The switch power supplies are hot swappable; they can be installed

or removed while the switch is receiving power from the supply in the

other slot.

Installation Procedure

To install a Switch 8100fl power supply:

1. Insert a flat blade screwdriver (or similar lever device) into the indent

located on the bottom edge in the center of the handle. Gently turn the

screwdriver with the handle downward and lower the power supply

handle to its fully extended position.

2. Position the power supply between the guides in an open power supply

slot.

chassis, and then rotate the handle

upwards to engage retaining latch

3. Slide the AC power supply all the way into the slot, firmly but gently

pressing to make sure that the connectors on the back of the power supply

are completely seated in the backplane.
