ProCurve Switch fl Redundant Power Supply
Power Supply Features
You can use a ProCurve Switch fl Redundant Power Supply in either a Switch
8108fl or Switch 8116fl. The power supply has the following features:
■ Power redundancy—if one of the power supplies in a switch fails, the
redundant power supply provides enough power to continue running
a fully loaded switch.
■ Power load sharing—when more than one power supply is installed,
each power supply shares the power load. As a result, the life of each
power supply is increased.
■ Hot swapping—you can install a new power supply or replace an
existing one without having to shut down or reboot the switch.
■ Automatic fault detection—if an error condition occurs in a power
supply, the switch immediately detects the condition and reports it
using the LED display on the front panel of the power supply.
■ Overcurrent and overvoltage protection—in the event of a power
overload, the power supply limits the output current. The power
supply will turn itself off before the voltage reaches a specified
threshold.
■ Automatic overheating protection—in the event of overheating, the
power supply automatically shuts off.
