Fabric OS 5.3.0 administrator guide 355
Extended ISL modes for 4/32B SAN Switch, 400 MP Router, 4/256 SAN Director
switches, and FR4-18i blade (Condor ASIC)
Table 77 lists the extended ISL modes for switches and blades that have a Condor ASIC.
Configuring external ports
The number of ports that can be configured per port group for each switch depends on both port speed
and distance. The following sections specify the number of external ports available for each switch at a
specific port speed and distance.
4/8 SAN Switch or 4/16 SAN Switch
Table 78 lists the number of ports that can be configured per port group at various distances.

v5.1.0 Yes
1. For each data channel (in this case, there are 4) there are 5 credits, plus 6 extra credits.
2. This mode is supported but cannot be configured on switches running Fabric OS v5.2.0 and later.
3. The dynamic long-distance mode (LD) automatically configures the number of buffer credits required, based on the actual link distance.
4. The static long-distance mode (LS) allocates the number of buffer credits based on the user-specified distance.
