HP Application Recovery Manager software A.06.10 Administrator's guide (March 2008)

The internal databases and configuration must be backed up separately and not by
using the Filesystem backup because Application Recovery Manager must be stopped
before you can back up the internal databases and configuration and restarted after
the successful backup. Application Recovery Manager offers the dbtool.pl utility
to back up the database and configuration to a safe location.
When backing up the IDB, you can choose the backup location, the number of copies
to make, and limit the amount of space that the IDB backups can occupy. By setting
the upper limits on disk usage or number of kept backups, you will probably not run
out of disk space.
Backing up the IDB
You must perform Internal Database backups regularly; it is best to perform them
daily.
It is recommended that you keep several backups of the internal database. Keep at
least two backup versions.
Use the dbtool.pl command to back up the internal database and configuration.
The command syntax and examples are provided in the HP Application Recovery
Manager software command line interface reference.
NOTE:
In the below steps, it is assumed that the perl.exe command is in the search path list
for commands (defined by the environment variable PATH). If not, specify the full
pathname.
Choose a backup location for the database. The location must be accessible from
the Cell Manager and fault tolerant.
