HP Application Recovery Manager software A.06.10 Concepts guide (March 2008)

Recording session information
At this stage, created replicas can be recycled for the next session. If instant recovery
has been enabled, additional IR session information is stored in the IDB, and the
replicas retained in case IR is required.
Writing session information to the IDB
ZDB session information is written to the IDB throughout the session, including
information on data objects available for restore, as well as array specific information
about the replica used for instant recovery purposes.
The ZDB database is an extension of the IDB on the Cell Manager. It has separate
sections for each array that supports ZDB+IR within Application Recovery Manager:
XPDB for XP
SMISDB for EVA
Information is written to the ZDB database whenever a replica is created, and deleted
when the replica is deleted.
For details on the sections of the ZDB database and their use, see the HP Application
Recovery Manager software administrator's guide.
Streaming the replica to tape using third-party backup
software
You can stream the replica to tape only using third–party backup software. The script
that starts such a backup can be provided in the Post-exec option in the Application
Recovery Manager ZDB specification. This way, the streaming of data to tape is
started automatically after the replica creation completes.
