HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager User Guide (T3680-96089, October 2012)

Trace log configuration
You can enable and disable the replication manager trace log.
Default: enabled. The log file has a maximum size of 60 MB. As the log gets full, the oldest
events are discarded.
You can disable the trace log by using the configuration window.
Properties. See Trace log.
For the procedure, see Accessing the configuration window. See also Viewing the trace log.
Security credentials configuration
To log on and use the replication manager, special security groups must be configured on the
management server and each enabled host.
You cannot establish or maintain security credentials by using the replication manager
configuration window.
For further information on the creation and administration of security groups, see the HP P6000
Replication Solutions Manager Installation Guide and the HP P6000 Replication Solutions
Manager Administrator Guide.
Management server security groups
The following Windows OS-based security groups are required or supported on the management
server.
IMPORTANT: Group names are case sensitive. The use of all functions and features in the
replication manager, except viewing data, require membership in the administrator group.
HP Storage Admins. To access the replication manager server, this security group is required
on the management server and must have at least one member (user account). Members have
full replication manager execute and read/write privileges.
HP Storage Users. Members have only view/read replication manager privileges. This group
is required only when a group with extremely limited use of the replication manager is required.
Enabled hosts security groups
One of the following OS-based security groups is required on each enabled host, as appropriate.
IMPORTANT: Group names are case sensitive.
HP Host Agent Admins. To interact with the replication manager server, each Windows enabled
host must have this security group and at least one member (user account).
hphaadm. To interact with the replication manager server, each Linux, UNIX, and OpenVMS
enabled host must have this security group and at least one member (user account).
Simulation mode
For more information, see the HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager Simulation Guide, available
from the HP Storage website. See (page 289).
CAUTION: HP strongly recommends that you do not run simulation mode on a production machine
(that is, on the same machine as HP P6000 Command View). If you disconnect the replication
manager from HP P6000 Command View, you lose control of the storage resources that were
being managed by the replication manager. If you purge the replication manager database and
have not backed it up, you will lose all jobs.
