Enhancements
During online operations in CLX versions 3.01.00 and 3.02.00, retry of the failed 3PAR CLI
command was preformed depending on the error message returned by the 3PAR CLI. In the current
version, this feature is extended to the 3PAR CLI error return code. When 3PAR CLI returns an error
code CLI_ERROR_RETRY(10), CLX performs the retry of 3PAR CLI operations for the configured
numbers of times. CLI_ERROR_RETRY(10) error code is supported only from HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3
and later. If the 3PAR OS is earlier than 3.1.3, then CLX retries the 3PAR CLI operations based on
Too Many CLI Server Connections error message.
Notes
HP 3PAR Cluster Extension Windows Array LTU (BC885A) and HP 3PAR Cluster Extension
Windows Array E-LTU (BC885AAE) are supported in CLX 3.00.00 and later versions.
HP 3PAR Cluster Extension Windows Array LTU (BC885B) and HP 3PAR Cluster Extension
Windows Array E-LTU (BC885BAE) are supported in CLX 4.00.00 and later versions.
If the 3PAR OS version running on the 3PAR StoreServ Storage is 3.1.2 MU3 P16, 3.1.1
MU3 P27, 2.3.1 MU5 P35, 3.1.3, or higher, then the 3PAR CLI version on all failover cluster
nodes must be 3.1.2 MU3 P16, 3.1.1 MU3 P27, 2.3.1 MU5 P35, 3.1.3, or higher version
respectively.
Follow the CLX upgrade procedure described in HP 3PAR StoreServ Cluster Extension Software
Installation Guide.
See the SPOCK website http://www.hp.com/storage/spock for 3PAR OS and 3PAR CLI
version compatibility.
Fixes
During the CLX resource online operation, CLX starts the RC group (remote replication) after
successful failover. If the RC group (remote replication) fails to start, CLX resource still comes
online, and hence, the dependent clustered disk or application also comes online. After the
clustered disk or application comes online, CLX continuously tries to start the RC group. In
some scenarios, CLX fails to start the RC group when it is issuing the 3PAR CLI command with
the incorrect Target name. As a result, manual intervention is required to start the RC group
(remote replication). This issue is fixed in this version. CLX ensures automatic starting of the
RC group with the correct Target name.
Highly available VMs that are hosted on a CSV disk can be managed by the CLX VM
Management resource if required. These VMs are continuously monitored by the CLX VM
Management resource to check if the VM hosted CSV disk has moved across the data centers,
so that, corresponding VMs can also be live migrated along with the CSV disk. As part of this
continues monitoring, there is a memory leak. This issue has been fixed in this version.
Prerequisites
HP 3PAR StoreServ Cluster Extension Software for Windows leverages the Windows Clustering
solutions and HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage based HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage Remote Copy solution
to provide high availability and automatic disaster recovery. All the prerequisites specific to these
dependencies also apply to the HP 3PAR StoreServ Cluster Extension solution. For more information,
see HP 3PAR StoreServ Cluster Extension Software Administrator Guide.
