HP StoreEver Command View for Tape Libraries (CVTL) v. 3.7 and Interface Manager Firmware v I274 Release Notes

ESL and EML E-Series tape libraries become unresponsive when configuring host port
settings or restoring system defaults with direct connected host ports
Symptoms:
The Interface Manager becomes slow or unresponsive.
Restore system defaults command hangs or has errors.
Interface Controller port configurations timeout or fail and do not set up.
The Interface Controller event log has LINK UP and LINK DOWN events continuously.
The Interface Manager alert log has Interface Controller LINK UP and LINK DOWN continuously.
Workaround: Disconnect the host ports temporarily. The show lib status command should become
responsive within five minutes, as the network cleans itself up. With the host ports disabled, the Interface
Manager can be restored to the system default without errors and the Interface Controller host ports
can be configured without errors.
When all the host ports are set back to the direct settings, reconnect the host ports and make sure they
link. If the links do not link up, the hard ALPA might need to be changed if it conflicts with the HBA.
When HBA or IFC are configured for direct connections, a loop back cable is a good tool to test all
connections to find a bad FC port or cable.

SMI-S TapeProvider does not function and Storage Essentials discovery fails after
Command View EVA is upgraded
Symptoms: If CommandView TL 2.6 and CommandView EVA 9.2 co-exist on the system, and Command
View EVA 9.2 is upgraded to version 9.3, the SMI-S TapeProvider files will be deleted. SMI-S
TapeProvider will not function, and Storage Essentials discovery will fail.
Or, installation or upgrade of HP Command View EVA 9.3 and HP Command View TL 2.7 on the
same server does not succeed.
Workaround:
1. Manually create a backup of the folder in which Tape Provider is installed (for example copy the
contents of C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SMI-S\TapeProvider to a different
location).
2. Upgrade to Command View EVA 9.3.
3. Copy and paste the backup file to the original TapeProvider location (for example, copy the
TapeProvider folder back to C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SMI-S ).
4. Execute RegisterTLProvider.bat from the \TapeProvider\bin folder to register
TapeProvider.
5. Restart the SMI-S services (HP StorageWorks CIMOM).
