HP P9000 Replication Manager Software Update Release Notes 7.1.0-01 (TB584-96033, July 2011)

Managing copy pairs in a configuration that uses a device group or a virtual command
device
When managing copy pairs in a configuration that uses a device group or a virtual command device,
the response time for RAID Manager commands increases compared to managing copy pairs in a
configuration that uses a physical command device.
As a result, because processing in the Device Manager agent might terminate with an error, HP
recommends that you change the following properties:
Device Manager agent properties
Set the value of the server.agent.rm.moduleTimeOut property of the server.properties
file to 1800 or higher.
Set the value of the agent.rm.TimeOut property of the agent.properties file to 1800 or higher.
NOTE: After changing the properties, restart the Device Manager agent service.
Replication Manager properties
Set the value of the hdvmagtif.MaxPollingCount property of the agentif.properties file
to 100.
Set the value of the hdvmagtif.PollingInterval property of the agentif.properties file
to 60 or higher.
NOTE: After changing the properties, restart the services of the HP StorageWorks P9000 Command
View Advanced Edition Common Component.
Using copy groups defined by Device Groups
Make sure that the microcode version of the HP P9500 storage system is 70-02-00-XX/XX or later
before using copy groups defined by Device Groups.
Restriction on creating copy pairs
If all of the following conditions are met, tasks that create copy pairs fail with the KAVN00469-E
(RPM-03304) error:
1. Replication Manager is version 7.0.1-00 or later.
2. The Device Manager agent is earlier than version 7.0.1-00.
3. A new copy pair is created that is one of the following copy types, or a copy pair that is one of
the following copy types is added to an existing copy group:
Continuous Access Journal
Continuous Access Asynchronous
If this occurs, upgrade the Device Manager agent to version 7.0.1-00 or later.
Replication Manager and viewing copy group information
The Visible/Total column in the Copy Group Summary (in the Pair Configurations view of Replication
Manager) sometimes displays a different value than the number of copy pairs displayed in the Pairs
tab.
The total number of copy pairs displayed in the Pairs tab is the actual number of viewable copy pairs.
