HP StorageWorks P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.1.1 Configuration Guide (TB584-96029, September 2011)

For details on the latest virtual memory requirements, see the documentation for each product.
Table 11 Virtual memory requirements for each product
Virtual memory require-
ment (MB)
Product or component name
2,600
Device Manager
For details on virtual memory requirements and allocating virtual memory, see
the description of the server.agent.maxMemorySize property in the HP
StorageWorks P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Administrator
Guide.
If Device Manager Agent is installed on the management server, you need to
allocate additional virtual memory for it.
Tiered Storage Manager
Replication Manager
If Application Agent is installed on the management server, you need to secure
an additional 128 MB of virtual memory for Application Agent.
Example of calculating virtual memory
Device Manager, Tiered Storage Manager, and Replication Manager are always installed together.
If 1,000 MB of virtual memory is already used by the OS and other programs:
2,600 (for Device Manager, Tiered Storage Manager, and Replication Manager) + 500 (for P9000
Command View AE Common Component) + 1,000 (already used virtual memory) = 4,100
Therefore, 4,100 MB or more of virtual memory must be secured.
Management server perm heap sizes and virtual memory
The following table shows perm heap sizes and the amount of virtual memory required for management
servers.
Table 12 Perm heap sizes

1,190,000jar

18,100,000class
28,000,000jsp

Disk space for Replication Monitor log files (5.x upgrade only)
To determine the space required for backing up the Replication Monitor log file, use the following
formula (which uses the settings in the logger.properties file)
logger.MaxBackupIndex * logger.MaxFileSize
For details about the logger.properties file, see logger.properties on page 79.
