AddStorageArray
AddStorageArray searches for storage systems, and registers the storage system information (such
as the IP address, user ID, and password) into the Device Manager server database. For the registered
storage systems, AddStorageArray modifies the registered information, and refreshes the storage
system configuration information (that is, updates the configuration information). When you modify
the registered information, you can modify the values other than the storage system type (whose
parameter is family).
NOTE:
When executing the AddStorageArray command for a storage system, do not shut down hosts
that are using storage system volumes, and do not stop the Device Manager agent. If you do so,
the AddStorageArray command might take longer to perform.
When using the AddStorageArray command to register storage system information, HP recom-
mends that, for the parameter userid, you specify a different user ID from user IDs that other
storage system management tools use.
If execution of the AddStorageArray command results in an error, take appropriate action
according to the error message, and then re-execute the AddStorageArray command. When
the AddStorageArray command is executed, information obtained from the storage system is
divided into transactions and stored in the Device Manager database. Therefore, if an error occurs
during processing, the configuration information in the Device Manager database becomes incon-
sistent with the configuration information of the actual storage system. If the database is inconsistent,
there might be limitations on the operations below for the target storage system. To check whether
the database is inconsistent, execute the GetStorageArray command. If a value other than 0
is written for statusOfDBInconsistency (which is displayed under An instance of
StorageArray as the result of the GetStorageArray command), the status of the database
is inconsistent. For details about the meaning of the statusOfDBInconsistency values other
than 0, see Table 136 in StorageArray instance on page 326.
