The sudo function for Host Data Collector
When using sudo to register or refresh Unix hosts, the following error message might be output
repeatedly:
ERR_1202 : Unable to copy all the files to the remote server. (Remote
server: "IP address of target host", Cause: Error during SCP transfer.)
In this case, delete the following files from the /tmp directory, and then retry the operation:
SupportedOs.txt
FsDataGather.*
FsDataGatherLauncher.Unix.sh
When using sudo to register or refresh a Solaris host, if stty erase ^H is enabled for .bashrc,
the following error message is output and the operation fails:
ERR_1205 : Task execution failed. (Cause: bash: sudo: command not found)
When using sudo to register or refresh a Solaris host, do not enable stty erase ^H for .bashrc.
Installing Host Data Collector
A period (.) cannot be specified in the installation path. Although prohibited special characters
other than semicolon (such as @) can be specified in the installation path, Host Data Collector
will not work properly. When you specify an installation path, use the following characters:
A -Z, a-z, 0-9, left parenthesis [ ( ], right parenthesis [ ) ], single-byte space, backslash(\).
If Host Data Collector cannot be installed on the host with a supported operating system after
installing Device Manager, install Host Data Collector manually.
The installation/uninstallation of Host Data Collector on a non-system drive creates a temp folder
on that drive. You can delete the folder.
If the environment variable tmp in Windows includes characters other than the following,
installation fails:
A-Z a-z 0-9 space ._() ~@#$^&()_+{}`-=[]',ó
Change the tmp path to use the above characters.
When Host Data Collector is installed on a SUSE Linux server, Host Data Collector does not start
automatically after the operating system is rebooted. Execute the following command after the
post-installation reboot:
#chkconfig -s S99AP on
Installing Host Data Collector from a remote server might fail.
In this case, remove Host Data Collector and store the target installation image on the server.
Then install Host Data Collector again by using the installation image.
Do not use two or more consecutive spaces in the Host Data Collector (for Windows) installation
path. Otherwise, you will not be able to uninstall Host Data Collector later.
Removing Host Data Collector
After removing Host Data Collector from a Solaris or Linux host, the following files or directories might
remain.
<installation-directory>/Winexe
<installation-directory>/HostDataCollector/conf/HDCPid.dat
Delete them manually after the removal.
Host Data Collector can be reinstalled if these files or directories remain.
