HP StorageWorks P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Software 7.1.1 Administrator Guide (web) (TB581-96065, September 2011)

The following shows an example of the auditlog.conf file:
# Specify an integer for Facility. (specifiable range: 1-23)
Log.Facility 1
# Specify the event category.
# You can specify any of the following:
# StartStop, Failure, LinkStatus, ExternalService,
# Authentication, AccessControl, ContentAccess,
# ConfigurationAccess, Maintenance, or AnomalyEvent.
Log.Event.Category Authentication,ConfigurationAccess
# Specify an integer for Severity. (specifiable range: 0-7)
Log.Level 6
In the example above, the audit events related to Authentication or ConfigurationAccess
are output. For Windows, Log.Level 6 outputs audit log data corresponding to the Error, Warning,
and Information levels. For Linux, Log.Facility 1 outputs the audit log data to the syslog file
that is defined as the user facility in the syslog.conf file.
Referencing alerts
In Device Manager, the GUI or CLI can be used to reference error information (hereafter referred to
as alerts) issued by storage systems. You can also set up Device Manager to automatically send email
to users based on the content of alerts.
By referencing alerts, you will be able to know the name and site of storage systems that errors have
occurred in, and how to handle those errors.
Information monitored by Device Manager
Device Manager uses the following information to monitor the operational status of storage systems:
Status of each storage system site (default)
Device Manager regularly monitors storage systems to determine if errors have occurred, and then
outputs error information to the GUI or CLI. The error information includes the site and severity of
the error.
SNMP traps received from storage systems (optional)
When SNMP traps are received, they are displayed in the GUI or CLI as alerts. SNMP traps are
useful for determining the cause of an error, because they include information about the location
of the error in addition to the site of the error.
To receive SNMP traps in Device Manager, you must specify environment settings.
The alerts that Device Manager can monitor differ by storage system. The following table lists the
alerts that can be monitored by different storage systems.
