12 Setting up Host Data Collector
This chapter explains how to set up Host Data Collector.
Installing Host Data Collector
This section explains how to install Host Data Collector. For details on the machine requirements, see
the Release Notes.
Before you begin a Host Data Collector installation
To facilitate the installation process, before starting the installation, determine the values to be specified
in the installation wizard, such as the installation destination path and port number. We recommend
using the default values, when possible.
The table below describes the items that need to be entered during Host Data Collector installation.
If you do not want to use the default values, see the table for a list of valid values.

The path to the folder or directory in which Host Data Collector will be installed.
The default installation path is as follows.
In Windows:
Program-Files-folder\CVXPAE\Host Data Collector
In Solaris or Linux:
/opt/CVXPAE/HostDataCollector/
If you do not use the default installation directory, make sure that the installation
location satisfies the following conditions:
Length of the absolute path: No more than 64 bytes
Specifiable characters:
Windows: A to Z a to z 0 to 9 single byte spaces . _ ( ) \ :
Solaris or Linux: A to Z a to z 0 to 9 . _ /
Installation path
The number of the port used by Host Data Collector. You cannot use 23050/tcp
or 23052/tcp.
Default: 23051/tcp

Installing Host Data Collector (Windows)
To install Host Data Collector in a Windows environment:
1. Log on to Windows by using a user ID that is a member of the Administrators group.
2. Insert the integrated installation media.
