HP StorageWorks P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Software 7.1.1 Administrator Guide (web) (TB581-96065, September 2011)

The setting is required when managing partitioned resources in P9500.
Note that, if each user uses a different command device, register the command device in a resource
group managed by the user, instead of registering it in a shared resource group.
Device Manager agent must be installed on hosts as follows:
If there is one host that recognizes the P-VOL and one host that recognizes the S-VOL:
Install a Device Manager agent on each of the hosts.
If there are multiple hosts that recognize the P-VOL and multiple hosts that recognize the S-VOL:
Install a Device Manager agent on one of the hosts that recognize the P-VOL and one of the
hosts that recognize the S-VOL.
For details on the correspondence between copy pair operations and required Device Manager
agent versions, see Device Manager agent requirements for managing copy pairs on page 58.
RAID Manager must be installed on hosts as follows:
If there are multiple hosts that recognize the P-VOL and multiple hosts that recognize the S-VOL,
install RAID Manager on one of the hosts that recognize the P-VOL and one of the hosts that recog-
nize the S-VOL.
If the authentication mode for command devices recognized by a host is enabled, install version
01-25-03/01 or later of RAID Manager on the host.
For details on how to install RAID Manager, see the relevant manual for RAID Manager.
If there are multiple NICs on the host, the Device Manager agent and RAID Manager must use
the same IP address.
CAUTION:
If the host is connected to a command device whose authentication mode is enabled, you need to
authenticate users by executing the raidcom command on the host before performing copy pair
operations from the GUI or CLI. If the application server OS is Windows, you need to authenticate
users as a Device Manager agent service (HBsA Service) execution user.
