3 Agent installation
This module describes how to install agents.
Planning for Device Manager agent installation
Before you install the Device Manager agent, verify the following conditions and gather the information
you need to perform the installation.
Prerequisites for agent installation conditions
Before performing a new installation, gather the information you need to provide to the installation
wizard, including the default installation folder.
NOTE:
When updating a system or performing a recovery, the Device Manager server information and
HiScan command execution periods are imported.
For Windows:

The Windows default installation folder: program-files-folder\HDVM\HBaseAgent

: program-files-folder indicates the following location:
• For Windows (x86): The folder specified in the Windows system environment variable %Pro-
gramFiles%.
• For Windows (x64 or IPF): The folder specified in the Windows system environment variable
%ProgramFiles(x86)%.
You can change the agent default installation folder location in Windows as long as the following
software is not installed:
• Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager
• Replication Manager application agent
• Whether to set up agent services account information. To set up account information for agent
services, you must specify a Windows account with Administrator permissions. (Default: Yes)
For UNIX:
• The UNIX installation folder cannot be changed.
For Windows and UNIX:
• Device Manager server default for the IP address or host name: 255.255.255.255
• Device Manager server default for the port: 2001/tcp
• User ID (user account that belong to PeerGroup): HaUser
