HP StorageWorks P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.1.1 User Guide (TB584-96030, September 2011)

TIP:
The configuration might be updated often if both settings are enabled. Therefore HP recommends that
if you want to enable the periodic update setting, you disable the automatic update setting.
When automatic refreshing of configuration information is enabled, Replication Manager regularly
checks whether Device Manager servers registered as information sources have refreshed their storage
systems configurations. The automatic acquisition of configuration information from information sources
is triggered whenever a storage system refresh operation is executed in Device Manager. As a result
the configuration information in Replication Manager is automatically synchronized with the updated
configuration information in the Device Manager server database. You can enable/disable the
automatic refresh option by setting the base.repositry.synchronize.polling property in
the base.properties file on the management server. This option takes effect when the
base.repositry.synchronize.polling property is set to true. The monitoring interval at
which the regular checks for storage refresh are performed is determined by the value specified for
the base.repositry.synchronize.interval property in the base.properties file. For
details on the base.repositry.synchronize.polling property and the
base.repositry.synchronize.interval properties, see the HP StorageWorks P9000
Replication Manager Software Configuration Guide.
TIP:
Replication Manager does not regularly check whether instances of HP StorageWorks P9000 for
Business Continuity Manager Software or P9000 mainframe agent registered as information sources
have refreshed their storage systems configurations. When a storage system managed exclusively by
HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity Manager Software is refreshed, the information is
provided by HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity Manager Software or P9000 mainframe
agent.
When the periodic refreshing of configuration information is enabled, the latest configuration is
acquired from the information source regardless of a storage refresh operation in Device Manager.
For this option, you should specify a configuration refresh interval for acquiring the latest configuration
information using the Refresh Setting option in the Explorer menu. This option takes effect when an
update cycle is specified for the Interval parameter in the Settings window. It is disabled when "NONE"
is specified.
The following information is automatically refreshed every 5 minutes, regardless of the refresh settings
for configuration information:
Journal group status
Journal volume usage on a journal group basis
Pool status
Pool volume usage on a pool basis
