Upgrade precautions

NOTE: When the full package of Device Manager 7.1.0-02 is applied, Tiered Storage Manager

7.1.0-02 is also applied automatically.

• While the product version is being updated, do not start services and commands of the P9000

Tiered Storage Manager server, Device Manager server, and Command View Advanced Edition

Suite Common Component. In addition, do not access any file under the installation folder.

• To update the product version, you must be a member of the Administrators group.

• Do not stop the update program before it has completed processing.

• When the product version is updated, a temporary file is created under the

<P9000-Tiered-Storage-Manager-installation-folder>\patch_backup.dir

directory.

• The temporary file file is a backup of the existing product files that will be updated, and its size

is indicated in “Additional disk space requirements to apply the patch” (page 5). This file is

deleted when the regular or corrected version of the product is installed. While the product version

is being updated, messages indicating the progress are appended to a log file
