Installation instructions
For complete requirements, see the manual HP StorageWorks XP Command View Advanced Edition
software installation guide for Device Manager, Provisioning Manager, and Tiered Storage Manager.
General Precautions
While the update is in progress, do not start the service or execute any command of the Device
Manager server or XP Command View AE Suite Common Component. Also, do not access any
files in the installation destination folders.
While the update is in progress, do not interrupt the program.
If the update package includes an agent correction, update the server, download the agent from
the server to the target host, and then update the agent on the host. For instructions, see the HP
StorageWorks XP Command View Advanced Edition software Device Manager agent administrator
guide.
The host name specified during the Device Manager server installation must be no more than 32
single-byte characters. If a host name exceeds 32 characters, rename the host and then resume
the installation.
Precautions for Windows
The user who performs the update must be a member of the Administrator group.
During the update operation, temporary files are created under the directory Device-Manager-
server-installation-folder\Server\inst\backup. For details about the disk space required for these
files, see Table 1. These files are cleared when a regular or corrected version of the product is
installed.
During the update, progress is output to the log file Device-Manager-server-installation-
folder\Server\logs\PATCHLOG.TXT. This file is cleared when the next regular or corrected version
of the product is installed.
