15. A message about the settings for the SMI-S Provider service appears. If you want the SMI-S
Provider service to start automatically when Device Manager starts, select 1. If you do not want
it to start automatically, select 2.
If you selected 1, go to the next step. If you selected 2, go to step 18.
NOTE: You can set up the SMI-S Provider service after installation. For details, see
Appendix A

16. A message about the SSL settings for SMI-S appears. If you want to use SSL with SMI-S using
the default port number (5989), enter 1 to continue. If you want to use SSL with SMI-S, but you
want to specify the port number yourself, enter 2 to continue. If you want to use the default port
number (5988) for SMI-S, but you do not want to use SSL, enter 3 to continue. If you want to
specify the port number for SMI-S by yourself, but do not want to use SSL, enter 4 to continue.
NOTE: You can enable SSL and set the port number after installation. For details, see
subsections
A-3-2-2 and A-4-1.
17. A message about changing the port number appears. Enter the port number to be used, as
required.
18. A message about two-way authentication for object operations and event indications appears. If
you do not want to use two-way authentication, enter 1 to continue. If you want to use two-way
authentication only for object operations, enter 2 to continue. If you want to use two-way
authentication only for event indications, enter 3 to continue. If you want to use two-way
authentication for both object operations and event indications, enter 4 to continue.
19. A message about the settings of SMI-S Agent is displayed SMI-S Agent is a Device Manager
agent functionality that collects the performance information of the storage subsystem. To
specify the name of the host on which SMI-S Agent runs during installation, select 1 and then
proceed to the next step. To specify the host name after installation, select 2 and then proceed
to the next step.
CAUTION: Make sure that the host name that you specify during installation is the same as the
name of the host on which SMI-S Agent actually runs.
NOTE:
For details about how to specify the host name after installation, see subsection A-6-2.
For details about the necessary settings for collecting the performance information of the storage
subsystem, see section

20. When you select 1, a message about specifying the name of the host on which SMI-S Agent
runs is displayed. Enter the name of this host.
CAUTION: Specify a host name within 64 bytes.
21. A message about the SLP daemon settings appears. To install and enable the SLP daemon,
enter 1 and then proceed to the next step. If you do not want to enable the SLP daemon, or if
another SLP daemon is already installed and enabled, enter 2 and then proceed to the next
step.
NOTE: In Linux, it is possible to enable the SLP daemon after installing Device Manager. For
details, see section
A-5.
22. In a non-cluster environment, a message asking whether you want to start the XP Command
View AE Suite services after installation is complete is displayed. If you want to start the
