5 XP Command View AE Suite Common
Component
XP Command View AE Suite Common Component provides features that are used by all XP
Command View AE Suite products. Each XP Command View AE Suite product will bundle Common
Component. This chapter discusses the following functions:
Installing and uninstalling
Starting and stopping
Integrated logging
Ports used by
Setup for starting a web application from web client
Settings when changing the network settings for the management server or when performing
maintenance
Security settings for user accounts
Warning banner settings
Generating audit logs
Table 5-1 describes the Common Component elements that are used by Device Manager.

Function Description
Single Sign-on A customer who operates multiple XP Command View AE Suite products is not
prompted to re-enter their user ID and password if that customer is using those
products simultaneously. Single Sign-On provides a unified user authentication
mechanism.
Integrated logging
information
Operation and other types of logs are concentrated by an integrated logging
information feature. Providing a common log repository allows all XP Command
View AE Suite log files to be in the same file.
5-1 Installing and uninstalling XP Command View
AE Suite Common Component
Common Component must be installed or uninstalled as part of the installation or uninstallation
Device Manager. You cannot install or uninstall just Common Component.
Installation of Common Component will include the common trace library.
Whether Common Component is either installed or upgraded during Device Manager installation is
determined by the following factors:
If Common Component is not previously installed on the system, the Device Manager installer
will install it.
If the previously installed Common Component version is earlier than or the same as the
Common Component version to be installed, the Device Manager installer will upgrade
Common Component by overwriting the previous version.
