• HP StorageWorks XP Provisioning Manager automates the operations of assigning volumes to

the storage server and expanding file systems. This XP Command View Advanced Edition

plug-in selects the appropriate storage, creates device files on the server, and creates and

mounts file systems. HP StorageWorks XP Provisioning Manager automates such operations,

reducing the workload on system administrators. For more information about HP StorageWorks

XP Provisioning Manager, see the HP StorageWorks XP Provisioning Manager documentation.

NOTE: XP Provisioning Manager version 5.9 or later is installed together with Device Manager.

You cannot install XP Provisioning Manager version 5.8 or earlier in an environment where Device

Manager version 5.9 or later is installed.

• HP StorageWorks XP Tiered Storage Manager transfers data to an appropriate storage

subsystem according to data characteristics such as severity level and access frequency. HP

StorageWorks XP Tiered Storage Manager software optimizes the arrangement of data in an

environment in which multiple storage subsystems have been centralized by using

XP24000/XP20000 and XP12000/XP10000/SVS200. For more information about HP

Table 1-7 shows the versions of XP Tiered Storage Manager that are supported by the Device

Manager.

• HP StorageWorks XP Replication Monitor displays the copy pair configuration for the entire

system from the viewpoint of hosts, storage subsystems, and copy pairs. You can set up HP

StorageWorks XP Replication Monitor software to automatically notify a user when an error is

• HP StorageWorks XP Command View Advanced Edition mainframe agent provides

volume information on the storage subsystems that are managed by a mainframe host. XP

mainframe agent allows subsystems that could be monitored only from the mainframe host

system to be monitored from a Device Manager client. For details on the mainframe agent, see
