2-6 Operating in an IPv6 environment
Device Manager has supported IPv6 environments since version 5.9. For details about the OSs that
support Device Manager server operations in IPv6 environments, see section
3-1 for Windows, and
section
4-1 for Linux.
2-6-1 Limitations on operations in an IPv6 environment
Note the following limitations when you use Device Manager in an IPv6 environment:
Device Manager does not support IPv6-only environments. Set up the OS such that both IPv4
and IPv6 can be used.
When specifying the IP address or host name of the Device Manager server, we recommend
that you use the host name. If you specify an IPv6 address, in Internet Explorer 6 you might not
be able to connect to the Device Manager server or move from window to window.
You can only use global addresses as IPv6 addresses. Global-unique local addresses (site-
local addresses), and link-local addresses cannot be used.
2-6-2 Items to be set for operations in an IPv6 environment
If you use Device Manager in an IPv6 environment, edit the httpsd.conf file after installation of
Device Manager. The httpsd.conf file is stored one of the following locations:
In Windows:
XP-Command-View-AE-Suite-Common-Component\httpsd\conf\
In Linux:
XP-Command-View-AE-Suite-Common-Component\httpsd\conf\
CAUTION: Stop Device Manager and XP Command View AE Suite Common Component, and
then edit the httpsd.conf file. After editing the file, start Device Manager and XP Command
View AE Suite Common Component to apply the changes.
2-6-2-1 Settings for IPv6
Add a Listen line for IPv6 immediately after the line Listen port-number by using the following
syntax. Specify the same port number as specified in the Listen line for IPv4. The default value for
the port number is 23015.
Listen IPv6-address:port-number
The following shows an example of how to specify these settings:
Listen 23015
Listen [2001::99]:23015
CAUTION: Do not delete or edit the existing Listen line. If you do this, communication using
IPv4 will no longer be available.
2-6-2-2 Settings when establishing SSL communication
Add a Listen line for IPv6 immediately after the line Listen port-number-for-SSL-communication
by using the following syntax. Specify the same port number as specified in the Listen line for
IPv4. The default value for the port number for SSL communication is 23016.
Listen IPv6-address:port-number
The following shows an example of how to specify these settings:
