6-6 Updating Host Information
The host-name subwindow enables you to update information about the hosts registered in Provisioning
Manager.
To update host information:
1. In the navigation frame, expand the tree, and then choose Hosts. The information frame displays the List
Objects - Hosts subwindow.
2. In the List Objects - Hosts subwindow, select the host whose information you want to update. The method
frame shows the host-name subwindow. The information frame displays the Show Properties – host-
name subwindow.
3. In the host-name subwindow, choose Refresh. A dialog box is displayed, asking whether to start
refreshing the host information.
4. Click the OK button. When refreshing finishes, a dialog box notifies you of the completion of the process.
5. Click the Close button to close the dialog box. The dialog box closes.
The time displayed in Last Updated: in the Show Properties – host-name subwindow is also updated.
However, if the host does not recognize any of the volumes in the storage subsystem (when Device
Manager is not installed), Unknown is displayed as the value in Last Updated.
If this happens, make sure of the following and then restart the host:
Device Manager is installed on the host.
There are storage subsystem volumes that are available to the host.
If an error occurs when you update information about the host where the following processing is being
performed, Failed is displayed.
Addition, expansion and deletion of a file system
Addition and deletion of a device file
Resumption of the above processing
If Failed is displayed, perform the above procedure to update the host information again.
IMPORTANT: If the HiScan command is executed on the same host where the host information is
being updated, the command will end before the host information update finishes. If you want to know
whether a host information update executed by the HiScan command finishes properly, specify the -t
option when executing the command. A log file containing the command execution result is output.
IMPORTANT: In the log file, if COMPLETED is output for the status of SetHostVolume, the update has
finished properly. If FAILED is output and a message that indicates that the host information is being
updated is output in description, the HiScan command has ended without finishing the update of the
host information. In this case, wait a while and re-execute the HiScan command.
IMPORTANT: For details about the syntax of the HiScan command, see the manual HP StorageWorks
Command View XP Advanced Edition Device Manager Agent Installation and Configuration Guide.
