• HP-UX: Logical Volume Manager
The following file system types are supported for use by the host:
• Solaris™: UFS, VERITAS™ File System 3.5, or VERITAS™ File System 4.0
• AIX
®
: JFS
• Windows
®
: NTFS
• Linux: ext2 or ext3
• HP-UX: VERITAS™ File System 3.5
Conversely, a file system is not added if any of the following apply:
• The access privilege for the logged-in user is Guest or Local Guest
• An unsupported the volume manager is used in the file system
• An unsupported file system is used by the host
• The volume manager is using a volume on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed
• The volume is mounted on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed
• The volume is being used as a command device
• The volume is being used as an S-VOL for Continuous Access XP
• The volume is being used as an S-VOL or SP-VOL for Business Copy XP
• The volume is being used as a V-VOL or POOL for Snapshot XP
• The volume is being used as an on-demand device
• The Read/Write permissions have not been set in the LUN Security XP Extension function
• The Auto Lun XP attribute has been set
• The volume size is less than 512 MB
• Dynamic Link Manager does not exist on the host, and multiple paths are assigned to the volume
• The volume is being used as a Differential Management LU
Mount points to which any of the following apply cannot be used to add a file system:
• The mount point has a name that includes two-byte characters, such as Japanese characters
• The mount point begins with a:, b:, A:, or B:
• The mount point exists on a network drive
To add a file system, perform the following steps:
1. Select Volume (see section
7-3-1 ). All volumes that the user can choose from are displayed.
CAUTION: A volume cannot be used to add a file system if the volume manager is using that volume
on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed, or any of the following conditions apply:
• The volume is mounted on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed.
• The volume is being used as a command device.
• The volume is being used as an S-VOL for Continuous Access XP.
• The volume is being used as an S-VOL or SP-VOL for Business Copy XP.
• The volume is being used as a V-VOL or POOL for Snapshot XP.
• The volume is being used as an on-demand device.
• The Read/Write permissions have not been set in the LUN Security XP Extension function.
• The Auto Lun XP attribute has been set.
• The volume emulation type is unsupported.
• The volume size is less than 512 MB.
• Dynamic Link Manager does not exist on the host, and multiple paths are assigned to the volume.
2. Choose a volume from among those displayed.
3. Specify Parameters (see section
7-3-2 ). The following items are set:
• File system type
• Mount point
• Volume manager
4. Confirm the settings in Summary of Changes (see section
7-3-3 ).
