HP StorageWorks XP Provisioning Manager User Guide (December 2005)

Troubleshooting 159
Table 11-9 Troubleshooting Information: Host Settings Related to Volume Deletion
Problem Cause Recommended Action
When a file system is deleted,
even though an error occurs,
the volume that was used for
delete operations is displayed
in the List Objects - File
System subwindow.
Multiple users have deleted the same file
system concurrently.
Deletion of the file system finishes
successfully. No action is required.
Table 11-10 Troubleshooting Information: Storage Pool Information Display
Problem Cause Recommended Action
The Dialog box does not display any
logical groups or logical devices.
No logical group that can add a path to
a logical unit exists within the range that
can be used by the logged-in user.
Use Device Manager to create a logical
group within the range that can be used
by the logged-in user.
No logical device that satisfies the
condition exists within the range that
can be used by the logged-in user.
Use Device Manager to add a logical
device that satisfies the condition to the
storage pool that can be used by the
logged-in user.
Table 11-11 Troubleshooting Information: Transaction Log Deletion
Problem Cause Recommended Action
Transaction log cannot be deleted. If no limits are set in the property file,
the transaction logs are not deleted
until their number reaches the default
maximum storage limit. Transaction
logs are automatically deleted
according to the maximum number of
logs that can be stored or the
maximum number of storage periods.
Transaction logs cannot be deleted
individually. If you want to delete
multiple transaction logs or
transaction logs for which a certain
period has passed, in the property
file for Provisioning Manager, specify
the maximum number of logs that
can be stored or the maximum
number of storage periods.
Table 11-12 Troubleshooting Information: Transaction Log Status (continues on the next pages)
Problem Cause Action required
A setup operation that was being
executed in the background
failed.
Depends on the individual
case.
See the error message and the troubleshooting
information related to management of the file
system or device file, and remove the cause of the
error.
After removing the cause of the error, eliminate the
cause of the cancellation according to the
procedure described in
11-1-1 .
A setup operation that was being
executed in the background was
cancelled.
Manual setup or restarting of
the host is necessary during
the setup operation.
Eliminate the cause of the cancellation according to
the procedure described in
11-1-1 , and then
resume the setup operation. For details about how
to resume the setup operation, see
10-3 .
Raw device (SCSI device or
HDLM device) recognition, or
release of the recognition
might have failed.
Details about the possible causes are described
below. Take the appropriate action for the most
likely cause in your environment.
If the same problem occurs repeatedly, perform raw
device (SCSI device or HDLM device) recognition
or release the recognition by following the OS,
HBA, or Dynamic Link Manager manual.
In a Solaris™ host, the
addition or expansion of a file
system or device file was
performed by using a host bus
See the manual for the host bus adapter and
perform the necessary steps as required:
Editing the SCSI driver definition file
Editing the /kernel/drv/sd.conf file
