HP StorageWorks XP Provisioning Manager User Guide (December 2005)

Using Provisioning Manager 42
Figure 3-6
Partitioned Resource Administration by Server for Each SLPR
NOTE: The configuration shown in Figure 3-6 is also supported for SSP, etc. By installing a server for each
SLPR, you can manage resources in a specific SLPR from each server.
3-1-5 Moving Volumes between Storage Pools
You can move storage volumes that have not been allocated to a host into other storage pools. Use this
function when you want to redistribute unallocated storage volumes, based on the results of a storage pool
allocation status analysis obtained by displaying the storage pools in their entirety or from a particular
perspective.
3-1-6 Viewing Usage Status for Storage Pools
You can view the total capacity, allocated capacity, and the allocated ratio of a storage pool associated with a
user group. Summary and detailed views are available.
3-1-6-1 Summary View
If the specified user group has any user groups under it, calculated totals include storage pools of both the
specified user group and its lower-order user groups.
By changing the user group that is specified, you can move your perspective up or down within the user group
hierarchy (however, you cannot move your perspective to a user group higher than the user group of the
logged-on user).
3-1-6-2 Detailed View
If the specified user group has any user groups under it, calculated totals do not include the storage pools of its
lower-order user groups. Instead, the total capacity, allocated capacity, and allocated ratio of the storage pool
of the specified user group, and of the storage groups of its lower-order user groups, are displayed.
