4-2-2 Restrictions on Adding File Systems
In the following cases, the file system is not added:
The type of volume manager used in the applicable file system is neither a basic disk nor a dynamic disk
The file system in use by the host is other than NTFS
The specified mount point is already in use by another file system
Volumes that satisfy one of the following conditions cannot be used for file system addition:
The volume manager is using a volume on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed
The volume is mounted on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed
The volume is being used as a command device
The volume is being used as an S-VOL for Continuous Access XP
The volume is being used as an S-VOL or SP-VOL for Business Copy XP
The volume is being used as a V-VOL or POOL for Snapshot XP
The volume is being used as an on-demand device
The Read/Write permissions have not been set in the LUN Security XP Extension function
The Auto LUN XP attribute has been set
The volume emulation type is not one of the following: OPEN-3, OPEN-8, OPEN-9, OPEN-K, OPEN-E,
OPEN-L, OPEN-M, OPEN-V
The volume size is less than 512 MB
Multiple paths are assigned to the volume
The volume is being used as a Differential Management LU
Mount points to which any of the following apply cannot be used to add a file system:
The mount point has a name that includes two-byte characters, such as Japanese characters
The mount point begins with a:, b:, A:, or B:
The mount point exists on a network drive

Provisioning Manager cannot expand the following logical volumes:
A basic disk
A volume other than a simple volume and span volume
A mirror volume

A simple volume upgraded from a Windows

2000 basic disk partition

A span volume upgraded from a Windows

2000 basic disk volume set

A volume whose physical volume contains more than one logical volume

Provisioning Manager cannot delete the following logical volumes:
A volume other than a simple volume, span volume, or basic disk partition
A mirror volume

Provisioning Manager cannot expand or add file systems in the following cases:
