3 Agent installation
This module describes how to install and set up Device Manager agents.
Planning for Device Manager agent installation
Before you install the Device Manager agent, verify the prerequisites and gather the information you
need to perform the installation.
Prerequisites for agent installation
Before performing a new installation, gather the appropriate information for the installation wizard,
including the installation folder.
NOTE:
When updating a system or performing a recovery, the Device Manager server information and
HiScan command execution periods are imported.
For Windows:
• Installation folder. Default: program-files-folder\HDVM\HBaseAgent
program-files-folder indicates the following location:
• For Windows (x86): The folder specified in the Windows system environment variable %Pro-
gramFiles%.
• For Windows (x64 or IPF): The folder specified in the Windows system environment variable
%ProgramFiles(x86)%.
You can change the agent installation folder location on Windows as long as the following software
is not installed:
• Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager
• Replication Manager application agent
• Whether to set up agent services account information. To set up account information for agent
services, you must specify a Windows account with Administrator permissions (default is Yes).
For UNIX:
• The UNIX installation folder cannot be changed.
For Windows and UNIX:
• Device Manager server IP address or host name. Default: 255.255.255.255
• Device Manager port. Default: 2001/tcp
• User ID (user account that belongs to PeerGroup): HaUser
