3 Finishing the HP Insight Management installation
This chapter describes the configuration tasks you must complete to ensure that HP Systems Insight
Manager and HP Insight Management products are appropriately configured to monitor and
manage your managed systems and other products in your hardware configuration.
Assumptions
The configuration procedures in this chapter assume the following:
• You installed the Insight managed system setup wizard during the Insight Management
installation procedure.
• The HP Insight Management Installer procedure completed successfully and you have resolved
any errors.
• Your web browser allows pop-up windows. If it does not, the Insight managed system setup
wizard cannot start in a new window. For information about allowing pop-ups on your browser,
see the help for your browser.
• HP Systems Insight Manager is displaying its Home page. If not, click Home in the upper right
corner of the banner.
• You know which tasks are required and which are optional, based on your system
configuration. To determine which tasks you must complete, see the HP Insight Management
Preinstallation Worksheet.
Running the Insight Management Advisor
Run the Insight Management Advisor again to verify any issues. For information on how to run the
Insight Management Advisor, see Step 3: Running the Insight Management Advisor.
The Insight Management Advisor logs are found under <OS installed Drive>:
HPIC\logs\IMAdvisor.
Checking for software updates or modifying the scheduled task
1. In System Insight Manager, select Tools→Insight Management→Software Updates.
2. (Optional) If you use a proxy server, expand the Proxy settings box and then select the I use
an HTTP proxy server checkbox, and then enter the proxy configuration information. If the
proxy server requires authentication, select the appropriate option, enter your user credentials,
and then click Apply.
NOTE: HP Insight Management Installer supports IPv4 as a valid IP address.
