Copies the new Performance Index Database.
Recomputes the pre-scaled data.
Restarts the Capacity Advisor data collection service.
Recomputing can take several hours to run, depending on the number of systems and the amount
of collected data. The text output for capupgrade provides an estimate of the time.
The example below shows capupgrade being run on a CMS with 20 servers.
C:\Program Files\HP\Virtual Server Environment\bin>capupgrade

The Performance Index upgrade can take up to 3 minutes.
During this time, the HP Capacity Advisor Data Service
will be offline and data collection will be stopped.
The service will restart automatically at the end of the
capupgrade process.

NOTE: The capacity planning scenario editor will display a reminder message until capupgrade
is run.
Step 6: Adding authorized users to Systems Insight Manager (optional)
If you want to authorize additional users to be able to sign-in and use HP Systems Insight Manager
tools and features, add those users now. To add users follow these steps:
1. Use one of the following methods to add a new user:
In the Finish the Installation area on the HP SIM home page, click Add new users.
From the HP Systems Insight Manager GUI menu, select OptionsSecurityUsers and
Authorizations... and then click on the Users tab.
2. Click the help question mark (?) in the title bar for the information you need to supply for each
user. For more information, see the HP Systems Insight Manager User Guide.
Step 7: Configuring alerts through email settings on the CMS (optional)
You can configure the CMS to alert you of special events and alerts through email.
Configure email notification
To configure the CMS to send email notifications of special events and alerts, follow these steps:
1. Use one of the following methods to configure email settings on the CMS:
In the Finish the Installation area on the HP Systems Insight Manager home page, click
the word email in the Configure email settings link.
From the HP Systems Insight Manager GUI menu, select OptionsEventsAutomatic
Event HandlingE-mail Settings...
2. Enter the required information and click OK. Click the help question mark (?) in the title bar
for the information you need to configure email. For more information, see the HP Systems
