Assumptions
This guide assumes that you have already:
• Read the HP Insight Management 7.3 Installation and Upgrade Release Notes.
• Confirmed the target CMS has a supported configuration as detailed in the HP Insight
Management 7.3 Support Matrix.
• Reviewed the HP Insight Management 7.3 Getting Started Guide to determine which products
you want to install.
• Completed the HP Insight Management 7.3 Preinstallation Worksheet.
HP recommends that you print the HP Insight Management Preinstallation Worksheet and
gather the required installation information before you start the installation.

The installation process
The HP Insight Management Installer installs all HP Insight Management products in a single session
on a single management server. Variations to this installation process might occur under any of
the following scenarios:
IMPORTANT: Installation of IM DVD components is not supported on systems with only IPv6 stack.
The system must either have IPv4 stack or both IPv4 and IPv6 stack.
• If HP SIM 6.3 or higher is already installed, the installer upgrades HP SIM and all its software.
• If Insight Control server provisioning is selected as a deployment option, then you must enter
the credentials for the server provisioning server. From the 7.2 release, HP Insight Control
includes the rights for HP Insight Control server provisioning, which is a new feature replacing
HP Insight Control server deployment. HP Insight Control server provisioning performs
multi-server operating system provisioning to bare metal ProLiant and BladeSystem servers.
You can download the HP Insight Control server provisioning installation instructions from the
HP Insight Management downloads website at http://www.hp.com/go/insightupdates.
NOTE: Starting 7.3 release, HP Insight Control server deployment, HP Insight Control server
deployment SIM Integration module, and HP Insight Control server deployment Quiesce SIM Plugin
are removed from the DVD. HP Insight Control server deployment is available only as a separate
download, which can be purchased. The previously installed version of HP Insight Control server
deployment, HP Insight Control server deployment SIM Integration module, and HP Insight Control
server deployment Quiesce SIM Plugin are not upgraded by the HP Insight Management Installer.
NOTE: HP Insight Management 7.3 includes all patches released for the previous version.
NOTE: Matrix Operating Environment installation fails in a scenario where the user has installed
.NET 3.5 SP1 and uninstalled .NET 3.0 before initiating the HP Insight Management DVD
installation. In such a scenario, HP IO installer fails to install and displays a pop-up message:
Missing software requirements.
