HP Insight Management 7.3 Installation and Configuration Guide

6 Troubleshooting
Installation
Error creating install event in HP SIM.
On rare scenarios, the Installer returns the message Installation or upgrade completed
with errors when product configuration fails.
Suggested action: If the error is due to failure to create install event in HP SIM, then ignore this
error as it would not affect the installation.
Reconfigure job fails with undefined exit code 1 for SLES x.x OS.
Reconfigure job fails with undefined exit code intermittently. This may be due to network failure.
Suggested action: Restart the reconfigure job.
Product installation fails to complete.
On rare occasions, individual product fail to install due to a timing issue in the startup of the HP
SIM service.
Suggested action: Rerun the Installer to complete the installation of those products that did not
install.
SQL Server default collation
If you have a binary collation mode set for Microsoft SQL Server database, you may see the
following error message:
An unsupported database collation mode has been detected. HP Insight
Management requires a non-binary mode for Microsoft SQL Server database.
Suggested action: Either reinstall SQL server with non-binary collation mode or change the collation
mode to non-binary.
To change the collation mode:
1. Obtain the copy of the SQL Server installation CD.
2. Stop the SQL Server service.
3. Rebuild the master database:
For MS SQL Server 2008
a. Open a command prompt.
b. Type the following command:
Setup /Q /ACTION=REBUILDDATABASE /INSTANCENAME=<InstanceName>
/SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS=<accounts> SAPWD=<StrongPassword>
/SQLCOLLATION=<CollationName>
4. Start the SQL Service and check the default collation.
NOTE: Changing the collation mode requires that the master database be rebuilt. This might
result in the data loss in one or more pre-existing user databases. Be sure that there are no user
databases existing on the server before carrying out these steps to avoid any possible data loss.
