5. On the Choose Solution screen, select a solution from the list provided.
Toggle the view from List View to Table View using the selection buttons to the right of the
search box.
NOTE: If no solutions are provided to choose, then either the appropriate resource objects
are not present in SPM or the requirements might conflict in some way that eliminates any
viable candidates.
The service requirements may also be changed on this screen. Click Modify requirements
(advanced) at the bottom right to access the Modify Requirements page. Click OK to return to
the Choose Solution screen.
Click Next.
The Service Properties screen appears.
6. On the Service Properties screen, specify Service name and Service description.
Click Next.
The Summary screen appears.
7. Review the Summary screen for accuracy. Click Next.
The Configure Activation screen appears.
8. On the Configure Activation screen, there are three options to activate the service.
• Activate now
• Schedule activation for a later time — Enter a specific date and time for the activation of
the service.
• Do not activate — Activation can be done at a later time from the Storage Services page
using the Configure Requirements button.
Make a selection and click Finish.
If 'Activate now' or 'Schedule activation for a later time' was selected, the Job Manager screen
will appear showing the progress of the service activation. If 'Do not activate' was selected,
the user will be returned to the last screen before the Provision Storage Service Wizard was
launched.
Manually assigning a volume to a storage service
To manually assign a volume to a storage service:
NOTE: Manually assigning a volume to a storage service circumvents the logic to match volumes
based on the requirements defined in the service. In general the normal activation process should
be used to activate storage services and bring them into the Resourced state. If a manually-assigned
volume does not meet all of the requirements defined in the storage service, the service will enter
the Nonconformant state. See Responding to storage services.
1. Select an existing Unresourced storage service.
2. Click Manually Assign Volume.
The Provision Storage Service Wizard appears.
3. Choose a Volume.
4. Click Finish to complete the process and close the Wizard.
Viewing a storage service
To view settings of a storage service:
1. Select Storage Services in the Storage Services section of the Navigation tree.
The Storage Services page appears with a list of available storage services.
