View/edit/delete templates
Once templates are created, a summary of their requirements and other details can be viewed or
edited from the Dashboard. To view template details:
1. In the Navigation tree select Templates under Storage Services.
The Templates page appears in the content pane. Any existing templates and their descriptions
are visible.
2. Select the name of the template to view or edit.
The template information screen appears.
3. Review the details and requirements of the template by clicking on each of the tabs at the top:
Overview, Read-Only Requirements, Default Requirements, Requirement Types, Storage
Services, Child Templates, and Security.
4. If changes are required, click Edit Template at the bottom right.
The Edit Template page appears.
5. Make the necessary edits to the template by clicking on each tab that is required.
6. As each tab is completed, click Apply at the bottom right.
7. When all changes have been completed, click OK.
The template information screen appears.
8. If a template requires deletion, click Delete Template at the bottom right of the template
information screen.
The Delete Template verification screen appears.
9. To verify deletion, click Delete Template.
The Templates page appears.
10. If Delete Template was clicked in error, click Cancel.
The template information screen appears.
NOTE: The default Matrix template should be edited with caution; any changes made apply to
all Matrix storage provisioning involving manual specification of storage needs (e.g., manually
defining a storage pool entry using SPM catalog storage, or manually specifying logical disk
information when defining a Matrix service). The default Matrix storage template should not be
deleted or the ability for Matrix to provision storage using SPM will be lost.
Service types
When creating a new template, there are three service types to choose from. For more details on
these see the following:
SAN connected volume service
Volume service
SAN connectivity service
NOTE: Matrix OE uses only the SAN connected volume service type.
SAN connected volume service
The SAN connected volume service provides a volume with configured connectivity on a SAN. It
is a combination of the other two services, volume and SAN connectivity. When creating a new
template, it is the default service type.
