HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager User Guide (T3680-96089, October 2012)

Considerations
You can use the GUI, jobs, or the CLUI to create snapshots. See Virtual disks actions cross
reference.
Guidelines apply. See virtual disks Snapshot guidelines.
Dynamic capacity management guidelines apply. See Using DC-Management with replication
for more information.
Procedure
This procedure uses the GUI.
1. In the navigation pane, select Virtual Disks.
2. On the List tab, select the virtual disk to replicate using the snapshot method.
3. Select Actions > New Snapshot.
The New Snapshot wizard opens.
4. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
Migrating a virtual disk
Migrate a virtual disk to a new disk group and/or change the Vraid level of a virtual disk. Both
operations can be performed simultaneously.
Considerations
You can use the GUI, jobs, or the CLUI to migrate a virtual disk. See Virtual disks actions cross
reference.
Only virtual disks that do not have local or remote replicas can be migrated.
Only fully allocated virtual disks can be migrated. Virtual disks using thin provisioning cannot
be migrated.
While a migration is in progress, other operations cannot be performed on the virtual disk.
This includes presenting or unpresenting the virtual disk and creating local replicas.
When migrating a virtual disk, the write cache policy is set to write-back as part of the migrate
process. If the virtual disk had write cache policy set to write-through, the policy will be changed
to write-back.
Procedure
This procedure uses the GUI.
1. In the navigation pane, select Virtual Disks.
2. On the List tab, select the source virtual disk to migrate.
3. Select Actions > Migrate.
The Migrate a Virtual Disk window opens.
4. Follow the instructions in the window.
